Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP)
FRP ethylene storage tanks offer several advantages: strong corrosion resistance, immunity to chemical corrosion, long service life, simple welding process, and fast construction. They also possess good insulation properties. However, their lower strength limits their ability to withstand excessive pressure, making them unsuitable for large tanks.
Carbon Steel
Carbon steel is a commonly used material for ethylene storage tanks. It is relatively inexpensive, strong, and has good pressure resistance, making it suitable for large tanks. Its disadvantages include susceptibility to chemical corrosion and a relatively shorter service life. To reduce the risk of explosion, explosion-proof isolation equipment or anti-corrosion treatments can be used.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and a longer service life compared to carbon steel. It is less susceptible to chemical damage. Using stainless steel for ethylene storage tanks reduces the probability of accidents and enhances the safety of production facilities. However, stainless steel is relatively expensive and more difficult to process.
