Q: What are the rules for LPG gas bottles?

A: Only use LPG cylinders in well ventilated outdoor areas – never indoors. Keep the LPG cylinder upright with its relief valves clear and facing away from combustible surfaces. Place the LPG cylinder on a firm level base of non-combustible material.

Q: Is it okay for LPG tanks to get wet?

A: Is cylinder sweating normal? A little bit of condensation is usually not a problem. However, if you see a lot of water or ice, or if it happens frequently, it could mean that: Too high withdrawal rate.

Q: How often do LPG tanks need to be tested?

A: Maintenance. Your gas cylinder is required to be re-tested and stamped every 10 years. Never use a naked flame to detect a leak. To check for gas leakage, spray soapy water on any suspect connection or hose and watch for bubbles.

Q: What is the correct method for storing LPG gas bottles?

A: Cylinders should be stored preferably in the open air on a concrete or load-bearing surface. Flammable liquids, combustible, corrosive, oxidising materials, toxic materials or compressed gas cylinders should be kept separate from LPG containers in general. Containers should be stored with their valves uppermost.
