Types of LNG Compressors

 

 

Reciprocating LNG Compressors

Reciprocating compressors operate on the principle of positive displacement. They use pistons to compress LNG by moving back and forth within a cylinder. As the piston moves, it decreases the volume of gas, leading to an increase in pressure.

 

Centrifugal LNG Compressors

Centrifugal compressors operate based on dynamic compression. They use a rotating impeller to accelerate LNG and convert kinetic energy into pressure energy. This compression method is highly efficient and suitable for high-capacity operations.

 

Screw LNG Compressors

The Working Principle of LNG Compressors

 

Natural gas compressors are tools that push natural gas into a smaller space, which makes its pressure go up. These compressors work by pulling in gas at low pressure, squeezing it tighter using a piston or a rotary device, and then releasing it at higher pressure for more processing or to be sent somewhere else.

Natural gas compressors come in two main types. Reciprocating compressors work by moving a piston back and forth in a cylinder. This action compresses the gas as it passes through a series of valves that control the intake and release of the gas.

On the other hand, rotary screw compressors have a pair of intertwined helical screws, or rotors, that draw in and compress the gas. The turning of these screws reduces the space available for the gas, which results in an increase in pressure.
